Restaurant Project – Generosity at the Heart

Hello everyone! The following update on the restaurant project was published in this week's Hebron Herald ...

Restaurant Project – Generosity at the Heart

National Volunteers Week is the third week in April but recognizing the many, many volunteers who have given of their time and talent is top of mind and at the heart of the Brick City Promoters.  Hundreds of volunteer hours have gone into the current restaurant restoration project at 711 Main Street, and the fruits of all of that effort will soon be on display as the restaurant is in the homestretch of being rescued, restored, and open for business.

Recently, 13 individuals lent a hand to move equipment from the old Wagon Wheel - Brick City Cafe building to the new restaurant location.  Thanks to Lance Elmer, Ed Frerer, Jack Gates, Jaxon Kraenzel, Paige Kraenzel, Lee Reinbold, Kristina Rosendahl, Jim Staiger, Rodney Staiger, Clyde Terras, David Wanner, Kevin Staiger, and Mark Draeb, whose helping hands and equipment made light work.  The drywall, masonry, and painting skills of volunteers Lance Elmer, Terry Dakken, Kerry Richardson, Russ Kreis, Dave Sardelli, and Karla Staiger have greatly helped stage the entire space for the final finishing details.

Renovations of the restaurant space are 95% complete. The balance of the work to be completed includes finishing details in the public space and kitchen, kitchen HVAC, and the setting of the kitchen equipment. It takes little imagination anymore to envision how the restaurant, with it’s 1920’s vibe, will look when it opens.

Pat & Misty Marx, along with son Nicholas Montgomery and daughter-in-law Tamara Montgomery, have signed a lease agreement as the restaurant operators with an estimated April 1, 2025 opening and are very excited for the opportunity to bring fine rustic fare to Hebron and the surrounding area. The Marx's have owned the Sit-n-Bull Bar & Cookhouse in Taylor since 2014.  Chef Nicholas and Tamara, with their years of culinary training and experience, intend to bring their passion for excellence to the Brick City Public House as a full-service restaurant.

Fundraising continues with the Promoters having recently introduced the Heritage Gift Campaign. The west wall of the dining room features a beautiful fifteen foot wide floor to ceiling brick accent, a fitting tribute to Hebron, and a generous gift by Hebron Brick Company.  This wall will feature stenciled logos with a vintage look chosen by those benefactors who have given $25,000 and greater.

A planned focal point on the wall will be the original Hebron Brickmaker logo, designed by the late Janet Sayler, with an engraved plaque featuring the names of those who have given $10,000. Heritage gifts of $5000 will be recognized by name in a wall display.  The Heritage Gift opportunities are hoped to be a meaningful way of memorializing (recognizing) those who have helped financially or did so in memory of a loved one, a past or present business, or a High School class.

Although there has been much fundraising success, the goal is not complete and fundraising continues. With a goal of $160,000, any gift is greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference in finishing the project.  As a true community effort, every volunteer hour and gift is instrumental and will be recognized by name.

For information on the project or to make a gift, contact Promoter’s president, Mark Draeb, at 303-550-4994, or treasurer, Kevin Staiger, at 701-878-4416.
